ABOUT THE SYSTEM ENGINEER POSITION

As a key member of the Granicus IT Team, the System Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all Granicus hosted services. The System Engineer will also be expected to develop and implement innovative ways to improve hosted operations. A successful candidate will be a self-motivator who is able to move seamlessly between windows and Linux and who as an expert with databases, web servers and scripting.

This position will report to the Hosted Operations Manager.

RESPONSIBLITIES FOR THE SYSTEM ENGINEER POSITION
• Ability to setup, configure, maintain and manage a large complex Windows and Linux environment and troubleshoot and resolve production problems in a timely manner.
• Work with Granicus Services and Product Teams to isolate, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and processes, reviewing system and application logs
• Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale in a SaaS Cloud environment
• Responsible for proactively managing and optimizing sites and systems through monitoring and scripting.
• Evaluate and assess corporate infrastructure to ensure internal staff are successful using IT systems in their day-to-day tasks.
• Implement application software patch maintenance and upgrades
• Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks
• Develop and maintain systems procedures and documentation.
• Contribute to the architecture and planning of hosted operations.
• As a member of the team duties include after hours, weekends and on-call service.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS FOR THE THE SYSTEM ENGINEER POSITION
• Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in a complex fast paced cloud based environment.
• Experience working with cloud vendors to implement a scalable and reliable hosted infrastructure.
• Experience with Mac OS X, Windows 7, 2003, 2008 and Linux Operating systems (CentOS or Red Hat a plus).
• Experience administrating and developing databases (MySQL & MSSQL a plus)
• Experience with Windows and Linux scripting/programming.
• Experience with Active Directory, DNS, SSL, SSH, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
• Experience with Media Internet Technologies (Wowza is a plus).
• Experience with virtualization
• Experience with networking (Routing, firewalls, etc. . .)
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Job Duties:

Prepare and maintain various technical records and engineering logs pertaining to broadcast equipment performance and discrepancies according to regulations.
Participate in all aspects of video postproduction, including audio mixing, technical direction, C.G. operation, computer editing, and videotape operation and editing.
Set up, maintain and operate remote production facilities, to include all engineering activities associated with remote television productions.
Test and align new equipment prior to installation in broadcast facility.
Set up and maintain transmission equipment for broadcast and point-to-point microwave links.

Job Qualifications:
Candidate must have strong PC and troubleshooting skills and be able to read schematic diagrams and be able to troubleshoot to component level.
Knowledge of broadcast rules and regulations.
Knowledge in maintenance, usage, and design of technical broadcast equipment.
Skill in responding to operational/technical equipment problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

JOB DUTIES
